SoundSneak License Terms
Plain-English rules for using music tracks and sound effects by jb. Pay once, use them in your projects, no per-play royalties.
These terms explain what you can do with music tracks and sound effects (“Sounds”) you get from SoundSneak (soundsneak.com). SoundSneak is run by Joel A. Beaudet (“jb”, “we”, “us”) in Portland, Oregon, USA. When you buy or download a Sound, you agree to these terms.
1. The short version
- You pay once and use the Sound in your projects. No per-play or per-view royalties.
- jb keeps ownership of the Sound. You get permission to use it, not ownership of it.
- You can’t resell, share, or give away the Sound files themselves, on their own or in packs or libraries.
- The Standard License covers most creators: YouTube, podcasts, social, indie films, games, and your own songs and beats.
- The Extended License adds TV, radio and cinema, paid ads, high-volume apps and games, and client work.

Both licenses are non-exclusive (other people can license the same Sound) and non-transferable (you can’t hand your license to someone else, except for Extended License client work as described below).
3. What you’re allowed to do
- Sync and edit: use the Sound in videos, podcasts, films, games, apps, presentations and other media. Cut it, loop it, layer it, pitch it, add effects, and mix it with other material.
- Make music with it: use Sounds, loops and samples inside your own original songs, beats and productions, and release, stream, sell and perform those songs. Your finished song must be a new work, not just the Sound with minor changes.
- Monetize your project: earn money from the finished project (ad revenue, sponsorships, sales, streams) with no extra royalties owed to us, as long as the use fits your license tier.
- Use it in unlimited projects, anywhere in the world, forever, as long as you follow these terms.
- Extended License client work: create a project for a client or employer using the Sound. The client may use the finished project, but you may not give them the Sound files to use separately.
4. What you’re not allowed to do
- Resell or redistribute the raw files. Don’t sell, share, upload, give away or sublicense the Sound files as-is or with minor changes, including in a sound pack, sample pack, loop kit, stock music or stock audio library, template, preset or construction kit.
- Claim it as your own. Don’t say you created the Sound or that you own it.
- Register it with Content ID or a PRO as the owner. Don’t register the Sound, or a project where the Sound is the main or only audio, with YouTube Content ID, any other content-ID or fingerprinting system, a distributor’s claiming service, or a performing rights organization (such as ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or SOCAN) as if you were the sole owner. You may register your own original songs that contain Sounds, as long as you don’t claim ownership of the Sound itself and it doesn’t cause claims against other licensees.
- Use it for AI. Don’t use any Sound, in whole or in part, to train, fine-tune, test or build any artificial intelligence or machine learning model or dataset, or feed it into a tool that does.
- Use it in illegal, hateful or defamatory content, or in a way that suggests jb or SoundSneak endorses you, your product or a political cause.
- Go beyond your tier. Standard License buyers can’t use Sounds in broadcast, cinema, paid ads, high-volume apps or games, or client work without upgrading to the Extended License.
5. Credit
Credit is appreciated but not required. If you’d like to give credit, something like this is great:

6. YouTube Content ID and similar systems
SoundSneak Sounds are not registered with YouTube Content ID. If you ever get a copyright claim on a project that properly uses a licensed Sound, email hello@soundsneak.com with the link and your order number, and we’ll help get it released. Keep your purchase receipt as proof of your license.
7. Ownership
jb keeps all copyright and other rights in every Sound. Buying a license gives you permission to use the Sound under these terms; it doesn’t transfer ownership. Anything not specifically allowed here is reserved by jb.
8. Custom sound design by jb
- Custom sound design and made-to-order sound effects are priced by quote, per project. Request a quote.
- Unless we agree otherwise in writing (email is fine), the client who orders custom work gets an Extended License to the delivered Sounds.
- jb keeps ownership of custom work unless a written agreement says otherwise. If you need exclusive rights or full ownership (a buyout), ask for a quote.
9. Payment, delivery and refunds
- Payments and downloads are handled by Payhip. Your license starts once payment is complete.
- Refunds: Refund policy will be posted at launch.
- If a file is broken or not what was described, email hello@soundsneak.com and we’ll fix or replace it.
10. If these terms are broken
If you break these terms, your license ends automatically. You must stop using the Sound in new projects and remove it where it’s being used improperly. We may also take other legal action available to us.
11. No warranty and limit of liability
Sounds are provided “as is.” To the extent the law allows, SoundSneak and jb aren’t liable for indirect or consequential damages from using the Sounds, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the license in question.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms in place when you bought your license apply to that purchase.
14. Questions
Not sure if your project is covered? Email hello@soundsneak.com before you buy or download and we’ll tell you which license you need.
